While the development of AI is mainly led by authoritarian governments and private monopolies, Europeans risk falling behind not only in terms of innovation and competitiveness, but also for the quality of their democracies.
This is why Eumans is running a Campaign for Civic Artificial Intelligence!
Digital technologies are currently hindering our democratic systems by polarising the public debate and spreading disinformation. We believe, however, the EU must ensure that AI serves the common good. For this reason, we propose a series of tools to create a Civic AI ecosystem that fosters citizen participation and more transparent, democratic governance. Find out more here.
We will discuss all these crucial topics at the Civic AI People’s Assembly online, on July 7th, from 6.30 to 8 PM CEST.
This “People’s Assembly” is open to all members and supporters. While some rooms will discuss more technical questions, thus targeting a more specialised audience, most of them will deal with broader political issues where participants from every background are more than welcome.
However, experienced facilitators will guide the discussion to ensure that every participant is actively included in the conversation.
The Assembly will be organised in breakout rooms, each having a brief introduction on the topic by an expert, before leaving the floor to the discussion among citizens.
The agenda is under definition, but it will span from Eumans’ contribution to the European Commission’s Data Union Strategy to AI governance, from the European Digital Identity to how to campaign on this pressing issue. Closer to the date of the Assembly, you will receive an email providing you with some material on the topics. Then you will be kindly asked to select the room you would like to join.
After the Assembly, the Civic AI Campaign’s political action will be informed by the recommendations of the Assembly.
